Introduction: ponder these busted statues and Ozymandias

It's funny how time goes by so quickly when you want it to move slowly, but moves slowly when you want it to move quickly. It's also funny how something might take so long to create but can be ruined in seconds. So, what does one do? Embrace time for what it is? Reject it completely? Percy Shelley's Ozymandias and e.e. cummings' ponder, darling these busted statues illustrate the theme of time through its effects on the past, present and future. The imagery, synthax and meanings of the poems are very different even though these techniques also demonstrate the similarities of the effects of time.
