The Second Coming and As I Walk Out One Evening

Diamonds may last forever, but love does not. As I Walk Out One Evening illustrates a man who is very self-aware and critical of himself. He explains how time does not last forever, therefore love does not either. Time can be seen as crutial and precious to lovers but in reality, time can never be slowed down or last forever. Love is spoiled by time, even though it seems everlasting.

The Second Coming has many interpretations. To me, it seems like a collection of symbol of change. The title of the poem alludes to the Book of Revelation and the reappearance of Christ. "Stony" could represent something that lasts throughout time or crumbles as time goes on.
