Plot

The plot is the representation of a plan or the main story. In Hamlet, the plot reveals a lot of detail about the characters even though the characters create the plot themselves. The specific parts of the plot (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and denouement) and where they are placed determines how the play/novel works itself out. When Claudius kills Hamlet Sr., the plot begins. Even though a murder seems like a climax, it is actually just the exposition and more of a setting used to draw the reader in and play the story in context. In Pride and Prejudice, when Liz gets the letter from Darcy which leads her to the state of truth is the climax of the novel which is placed in the middle. Drama's, like Hamlet, have displacement in the specific points of the plot.
